Personal Support for people with a disability (under 65)
Day centres do not provide medical care and they usually do not offer rehabilitation services. However they provide important social care. There are day centres in many community centres. Your GP or Public Health Nurse will be able to make arrangements for you to go to the day centre.
Contact your Public Health Nurse for details of meal services in your area.
Here is a list of carer organisations that may be able to provide support for carers and information about accessing carers through the HSE or privately.
Community Welfare Offices
A list of registered nursing homes can be obtained on the HSE website
This service aims to assess possible future training and work options for disabled people aged 15 to 65 years.
Wheelchairs can be hired from a variety of places. The stroke Support Club coordinator has a list of local hire shops/agencies. Tel. 087-2546742. / 061-371222
Most taxi firms/hackney services have a wheelchair accessible taxi and you should phone your local taxi company to make enquiries. It is worth noting that you may need to book these taxis well in advance of your journey. The Stroke Support Club coordinator has a list. Tel. 087 2546742. / 061-371222
